Speaking and Events

I speak about charity leadership, dementia inclusion, ageing and the practical realities of building sustainable community services. My talks combine published research, strategic-leadership thinking and direct experience of founding and leading Silverline Memories CIO. I aim to make complex organisational and social issues accessible, relevant and useful to the people in the room.

I am available for keynote talks, conference presentations, panel discussions, roundtables, workshops, podcasts, webinars and invited lectures. Sessions can be adapted for charity leaders, trustees, health and social-care professionals, researchers, students, community organisations and audiences with an interest in ageing or dementia.

Speaking topics

Succession planning in small charities
How leaders and trustees can prepare for change, share responsibility, retain organisational knowledge and build continuity without losing the purpose and relationships that make an organisation distinctive.

Founder-led organisations and leadership transitions
An honest exploration of the opportunities and pressures associated with founder leadership, including identity, governance, delegation, changing roles and planning responsibly for the organisation’s future.

Strategy and sustainability in the third sector
Practical approaches to strategic thinking when organisations face limited resources, rising demand and uncertainty. This topic can include organisational development, partnership working, fundraising, service improvement and keeping strategy connected to everyday delivery.

Leadership through organisational change
What it means to lead with clarity and humanity when services, structures or expectations are changing, with attention to communication, participation, organisational culture and the experience of staff and volunteers.

Institutional ageism, dementia inclusion and human rights
How assumptions about age and dementia can become embedded in systems, decisions and services, and how organisations can move from the language of inclusion towards meaningful participation, dignity and rights in practice.

Turning research and experience into practical action
How evidence, lived organisational experience and community knowledge can be brought together to improve decisions, shape services and create change that is realistic as well as ambitious.

Approach and format

Each contribution is shaped around the event, its audience and the questions organisers want to explore. I can offer a focused presentation, contribute to a wider panel or facilitate a more interactive session in which participants apply the ideas to their own organisations and communities. Where appropriate, talks can draw on my academic publications, strategic-leadership study and experience in the dementia and voluntary sectors.
